I hope not.

And I don't hate him at all...:noidea:

And maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the majority of skins fans ever hated him, it was more a debate about value vs $$$ that I've seen.

Now Lavar is a different case all together. He is hated because of how he acted at the end of his career with the skins. Totally classless imo.

Now if Rak acted like that, my opinion of him would change.

I don't know Cali, I talk to a lot of Redskins fans and the overwhelming opinion as they were debating his return was "fuck him, he's not as good as he thinks he is and not worth the money". This opinion obviously has only gotten stronger with this lost season.

I agree with Cali. I don't think he is hated, just most are disappointed that he never really achieved that elite status we were all expecting. I would welcome him back, but at a fair value. Not at $11M/year.

I believe alot of fans would agree that no one hated him. He did rub people the wrong way with him saying he has nothing to prove to anybody. We appreciate the hard work he put in. I would like for him to stay but definitely not at elite money. If he thinks he deserves big money after another season-ending injury and bad stats season from the Skins, he's sorely mistaken

I said he wasn't worth the money in the off-season. He is over rated. Of course I wanted him to play well as a Skins and but he just proved my point last season and this season. People on here claimed he was an elite OLB. Where are they now? I admitted I was wrong about Cousins but I was right about Rak.

rak has been a 3x pro bowler he isnt chopped liver people

most peoples beef are with his price tag . fair enough

i said the skins would franchise him and they did

rak is a very good OLb

but lets look at the total of him

he could have caused a huge stink about his contract . he didnt , he signed his tag immediately , he didnt hold out , he put the team first

he isnt a locker room distraction , he does what is asked of him but for some people they cant get past "their expectations " of him . just like the olympics , a silver or a bronze means you are a bum

he was the 13th overall pick in the draft . he played a position he was unfamiliar with for the good of the team unlike some others he made 3 pro bowls whether he backed in or not (which i think is BS )

but if you told me the 13th pick of the draft would make 3 pro bowls by year 6 of his career i would say we got value for that pick

to hate him for getting the most money he can for himself and his family is simple BS

i have seen us run off walt harris only to see him make a pro bowl in SF , same with rogers , and any number of kickers rhino etc

no you cant pay rak 11 mil . and with 3 pec injuries and a rough season this year i doubt anyone breaks the bank for him but can we lay off the bash a thon on him ? he has been a good player for us and a model citizen

:agree: I don't think fans hated Orakpo. The only stink was about how much money he was worth. I and many others thought tagging him was more than he was worth and that proved to be true. I think he had an injury plagued year ... ankle, finger and now pec and that reduced his ability this year. Some have argued his isn't injury prone and I would say this just supports the idea that he is.

As far as being a good guy there is no arguing that. Chris Russell was trying to argue his value versus people like Von Miller, Aldon Smith and Robert Mathis saying that each has had his problems but you can't argue with their stats. Orakpo never had that kind of effect. I think some of the reason Brian got paid this year was because he was a good guy. Haslett was also Orakpo's biggest advocate and maybe that tells a story too.

I would bring him back but at a greatly reduced number like $2 - $4 million. At age 29 with his history I don't think he is worth any more than that and if someone wants to pay him like that then that is fine.

An honest appraisal of Brian Orakpo starts with performance. There are those who tout his being a 3x pro bowler as significant. Others, see him as a great guy and team player, while others see him...er...saw him as being franchise worthy.

In a "what have you done for me lately" environment such as the NFL, the evaluation process has to begin with the singular question.......Is he a difference maker? The honest answer to that question makes being a 3x pro bowler, worthy of being a franchise designate or even a good guy all moot points. Nothing in his history suggests that he is "THAT" difference maker consistent with good to great defensive play. I've said all along that he is miscast as a hybrid player, he has no history of playing extremely well in that role and waiting for him to blossom into it is a flight of fantasy.

3 time pro bowler doesn't impress me, it just confirms how overrated he is. Does anyone here believe that Rak has played better than Kerrigan in the time they have both been here? He doesn't have any and Rak has 3.

I was on the fence on the re-sign more than any topic I can ever remember. I totally agreed that he was not worth a huge deal but I also posted that like it or not pass rushers get paid. And as we are about to find out they are very difficult to replace seeing as we've been looking for one since Charles Mann. So when the dust settled I was fine with the franchise tag. I totally expected him to blow up and force a big deal, now he has no leverage at all.

if you look at the numbers they are similar . you forget hits pressures sacks the total package and rak led the team by a mile

kerrigan has 1 pro bowl and he should get another . but remember kerrigan gets the RT almost always . rak typically gets the best i/lineman on the field the LT

i dont think saying rak is a very good olb is overrating him calling him elite is a stretch

and again he had his chance ti get the "elite " contact and he failed , simple as that. but 2-4 mil ? really ?

well lets see how much pressure we get now without rak. that should determine if we bring him back or not.

Yes $4 million is plenty. If someone wants to pay him $6 million or more I would let him go.
