Here's one that is worth discussing. It beats the hell out of debating what to make about a GSW to Talib's leg and the eventual fallout from that. I like "big picture" stuff far more.

So check out the predictions on the link below. To me the most notable thing is the "safe pick" of Patriots over Cardinals. To be fair, I also have the Cardinals in the Super Bowl in my "Road to a Repeat" thread, but the Patriots? Very much a safe and conventional pick.

Secondly, and closer to home, is they have the Chiefs not only winning the AFC West but beating the Broncos in the WC round of the playoffs. The link doesn't specify records so there's no way to know if they envision the Broncos to be a 5 or 6 seed. All we have is their prediction of a Chiefs win in the playoffs. Compared to my pick that the Chiefs go 8-8 and miss the playoffs, that's a pretty stark contrast.

Take a gander and share your thoughts.

On my kindle so have to get on PC to get link but for now, will say Palmer struggles and Cards finish 2nd to Seattle and Chiefs finish tied with Oakland at 8-8 and both miss playoffs. Denver, NE, Pitt, Cincy and Indy are AFC finalists. :)

^ A lot of people are still really high on them. I keep going back to questioning if they've really improved while the Raiders and Chargers do seem to have improved and the Broncos may well have improved as well. In the NFL status quo = falling behind. That's why I say they're an 8-8 team in 2016.

I don't question that the AFC West is going to be tougher - with the Raiders and Chargers improved and the Chiefs- playing well until they blow it at the end.

I agree. I believe top to bottom the AFC West will be the best division in football in 2016. I think the Raiders get to 10-6 more on the hunger and talent of the players than JDR's coaching, but they ride it right into a playoff win against the Patriots. The Chargers were close to winning a lot of the games they lost last year. Now a 4-12 team is a 4-12 team, but that 4-12 Chargers team was far better than, say, the 4-12 Broncos of 2010. And honestly, I'm starting to hear some buzz from some here and there that the Chargers will be in the mix for the playoffs this year. Wouldn't that be something?

It all spells to me a regression for the Chiefs. Expectations are high after an 11-5 season and long coveted playoff win. But I've said it a thousand times: progression or lack thereof from year to year is not linear in the NFL. I still think the Chiefs are a good team, but not good enough to avoid an 8-8 finish.
