Might have some possibility to it.

Especially considering that the ACC is the only conference ND ever reached out to, and the rumors going around that ND and Texas are in constant communication.

Not to mention that if any major conference lets ND keep NBC / Texas keep the LHN, it's the ACC.

Not a bad take.

My ideal scenario:

1) Texas, Oklahoma, Mizzou and Kansas go to the Big Ten.

2) The SEC takes A&M, Virginia Tech, Florida State and maybe NC State (for a North Carolina presence).

3) The Mountain West picks up Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and TCU from the Big East (and becomes an AQ conference).

4) Pitt, West Virginia and Rutgers replace the 3 teams the ACC lost. The Big East loses AQ status.

Notre Dame can continue to be a mediocre independent until the last generation to have been watching college football in 1988 dies, and they go away for good.

I still prefer to see Texas, Oklahoma, Mizzou and Kansas go to the Big Ten.

The Mountain West can take Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and TCU from the Big East (and becomes an AQ conference).

Pitt, West Virginia and Rutgers replace the 3 teams the ACC lost. The Big East goes back to being a basketball conference.

fixed it for you

Got it.

Maybe one addition, the MWC could eventually add back BYU and even pick up Iowa State to get to 16 teams.

Basically, the scrubs of the B12 need to go somewhere and the MWC is the logical place for them. It's a win-win for everybody. The SEC, Big Ten and Pac-12 are not falling over themselves to add teams like Okie Lite and Texas Tech, but those two would still be accretive to the prestige and level of play in the Mountain West.

This article basically said what I was thinking this morning. It's Texas' play to get a better deal when entering the pac. But maybe they just really live the lhn.

The issue Texas has with the LHN is that the network is pumping 5 million a year into academics.......while the state is cutting funding to a lot of programs.

That money is IMPORTANT to the regents......they don't want to give it up. The athletic department will always be a cash cow, so giving up their piece is not that big a deal......but the president is making this more difficult than it needs to be.

I'm still seeing articles and rumors that Texas and OU are Pac 16 bound though. I don't think anybody really has a clue what's going on at this point.
