No one can know for sure, but ACL surgery is really good nowadays. Meredith has said that he'll 100% be ready for camp. He's only 25 and speed was never his game anyway. He's a big physical guy. I think he'll be fine.

1.9 mil... Doesn't have to do all that much to hit value on that salary.

If he performs close to what he did in 2016. Suddenly you have a potential 1,000 yard WR for peanuts.

Obviously, he'd get a nice deal next year.

In fairness, in the limited snaps that Burton got in TE-heavy Philly, he capitalized on them. 5 TDs on 23 catches is pretty crazy.

This doesn't interfere with Shaheen, IMO. He's a pure pass catcher and not much else... Burton will be involved in the passing game as well, but asked to do a lot more. They will have separate roles.

Though I will say, it unnerves me a little that I haven't heard anything on Shaheen's injury. They were very quiet about it last year when it happened, never really disclosing what was actually wrong. Chest injury is all we got. He came down hard, and missed the last 3 games, and I don't think I've heard anything on him since? I guess no news is good news, but with the Bears, these casual injuries that get no mention seem to end up horrible.
