I looked at the ESPN stat page and I can't find Fleury in the top 5 anywhere.

Who's this Varlamov character? He's all over the place. He can't be any good, he plays for the Capitals, and I was repeatedly assured in Pittsburgh New Year's weekend that the Caps have major goaltending issues.

Also, I have read on a certain Web forum that Brent Johnson > MAF, so I don't know how the Pens backup goalie got an All-Star spot.

Fleury has a sub 2 GAA and +.930 SV% since his 7th game this season. Probably.

And we'll have to wait until Varlamov actually plays in 7 games this season before we can start commenting on how good a goaltender he has been.

Pekka Rinne & Kari Lehtonen deserve an All Star nod over Lundqvist & Fleury.

Rinne I could agree with, but not Lehtonen.

I know, I know - he's been solid since a flat start. Just a joke. Frankly, after Tim Thomas, there's a lot of guys in the East you could justifiable pick.

And Varly is certainly less deserving than MAF right now simply b/c he hasn't played in many games - though certainly more than 7. But he can't justifiably be picked with so few starts. That said, if you need to take away 6 starts to put MAF there, you only have to take away 1 start from Varly and he has the best stats in the league.

EDIT: That's what I got anyway. Positive it was 1.90 and .935 before the last 2 games. Still really solid.

22nd in SV% and 23 in GAA is not all-star calibre IMO.

Pavelec has superior statistics hands down: 2nd SV%, 10th GAA playing on a team that is at-best, equally as good as Dallas top-to-bottom.
