The only thing that pisses me off about the All-Star game is that I can't watching any meaningful basketball games for a week.

Otherwise I couldn't care less about the ASG. Doesn't matter the sport. I stopped watching them in my teens. I do occasionally watch the side events like the home run derby or slam dunk contest.

Pretty similar here. I usually watch some of the side stuff. If I'm home, I'll have whatever ASG on in the background while doing other stuff and stop to watch a few minutes of it here and there.

Yeah if I happen to be home and have nothing else to watch I might pop it on in the background.

Same. I always watch the side events. Love the derby and 3 pt shootout. Also as bad as the names may be for the dunk contest, i still watch

Yes because the all star game was always known for the great defense....

People complaining about things that happened in the all star game yearly. If there is anything to complain about, it would be about lack of intensity/defense being played in the 4th which was the point of the Elam rule but you guys get on here expecting to see defense like it is the heat vs knicks in the 90s.

Here is a simple solution.....dont watch

I know what the ASG is so i avoid bitching about it and only watch pieces of it.
I agree to a point, but it’s gotten so bad. Watched a replay the other day of one with Jordan, Stockton, Ewing, Malone, etc. after watching that what was on display last night was shameful.

Listen, if Grayson Allen ran out of the tunnel during the all star game, committed a flagrant foul on Lebron while JR screamed “He’s not supposed to be here! That son of a bitch isn’t an all star!!!” on the PA? I would consider attending, much less watching.

Sounds like WWE, lol.

This, especially after the Lakers changed up so much of their roster and really looked good vs the Pels in the last game before the break.

Iverson and Kobe played a great game one year. Watched it on youtube a couple months ago.

The regular season NBA is even a joke now compared to back then.

It's a shame, but they make money, and there's still the drooling mountain dew fans so no one will fix it. It will continue to deteriorate and some sad folks will say "it's not that bad" as it gets worse and worse.

The bright spot of the whole weekend was a G-Leaguer winning the dunk contest.

It was funny to hear the announcers talk about McClung like he's a budding star. We've known he can do this, he just can't do everything else well enough. He's 24, expecting upside out of him at this point is probably foolhardy.

lol @complaining about an all star game.

Some folks just invent shit to bitch about.
This plus 1,000! Did this condition of shitty All Star games just creep up on people out of nowhere? It’s been a joke forever.

It is definitely worse now though.

Players at least somewhat pretended to be in defensive positioning in the past.

To be fair this did seem like the year they finally just stopped pretending at all at any point in the game. Doesn't bother me, even when they did play a hint of defense in the 4th quarter I never watched lately, never even kept track of who won. Nice to see who scores the most and gets MVP.

2 guys playing 1 on 1 with the other 8 hands on hips at halfcourt is pretty stupid.

That is another level.

Players used to go through the motions on defense and allow highlight plays, but to still looked like basketball.

What I saw last night didn’t.

That’s fair and I observed the same thing from the video tweets I saw today. That 8 guys standing around thing was truly disgusting. But in terms of rating quality game play, it makes no difference to me if a guy is in guarding position off ball but then just not doing anything. Quality of game play is net same/same for me. Where I agree with you is that optics are far far worse on the 8 guys standing around stuff.

Might be time to get rid of it if we are being honest

I don’t think they’ll ever get rid of it as long as the other 3 major North American sports do an All Star game. And yet they’re all horrible. I haven’t watched an All Star game in any sport since I was a pre teen. Even as a high school kid I had soured on the quality of All Star games.

Honestly, I’ve watched more NBA dunk contests, NBA 3 point contests, and MLB Home Run Derbies than I have All Star games by a wide discrepancy.
