Pro Bowl C Alex Mack will play Super Bowl LI with fracture in left leg, sources tell ESPN. Falcons uncertain how well, or long, he'll play.



JFC this sounds pretty crazy.

Hopefully he can play well and the injury doesn't get worse, but this just sounds like something that has potential to result in a much worse injury.

But if Mack is hampered by his leg, it really hurts the Falcons chances. IMO, he was the MVP of Atlanta's offense this season.

I think it would only be a major issue if he somehow were to injure it worse. If the medical staff has cleared him to play, I doubt there is much risk involved. It kinda sounds like it won't effect his pass blocking as much as run blocking.

If there was any NFL player to play through an entire playoffs on a broken leg, it was always going to be Jack Youngblood. Football's original Ironman played 201 consecutive games across 14 seasons. In 1979, he broke his fibula in a Divisional match-up against the Cowboys, an injury that would knock any sane and non-masochistic person out for the season. But no, Youngblood threw a plastic cast over his leg, played in the NFC Championship a week later, and the Super Bowl a week after that. We have a feeling that his frightening last name has something to do with his mental numbness towards pain.
