Royals have been idiots not to bunt on that shift crap, they were killing it at the beginning of the year.

Disagree. McHugh was killing them- as he did every other time he has faced them. Not his fault they have an, imo, asinine OF shift to give Gordon a free double.

Royals were putting everything in play and a lot hit hard. Move the runners and score. He didn't have to be pulled. But he wasn't getting out of that inning unscathed.

They keep trying to beat the OF shift instead. So frustrating to watch. We got gifted two games because of Houston's OF alignment, imo.

I still think yanking McHugh was a huge mistake by Hinch.

IDK. It might have been a little premature, but if you're gonna pull him there (mid-inning), you gotta go with a regular bullpen guy, not a starter that hasn't played in ~2 weeks.

Eh? Morales had a well-hit flyball and Gordon's double was hard hit; although, as has been pointed out, that's probably an out too if Springer wasn't playing in for some mysterious reason (I would love to hear an honest explanation on that one!). I didn't think his control/stuff was as good as it was in game one, but he was still getting mostly "soft contact."

I wouldn't go quite that far. Cueto had a lot better stuff than McHugh tonight, so we were getting into that bullpen eventually.

Couple random thoughts...

1) Aside from the double-error "hit," it was nice to see the defense come through with some big plays. That was such a big factor last year, but not as much in this series because of the Astros "style."
2) Cueto, Morales, Rios, and Zobrist: 8 fairly dominant IPs, 8K, and 6 of 7 RBIs

Talking more in game 1 with the line outs. But actually soft contact speaks to my point even more. Can't get the guy at home on "soft" contact. And every fly out was hit well out there.

Just no way mchugh survies that inning with zero strike out stuff.

Who's going to start the KC vs Toronto game thread. I want to see what the fans have to say. Are there very many Jays fans on the SportsHoopla?
