What has happened to Weaver's velo?

I remember the first time we clinched in 1996. It was in the most anti-climatic way ever as I recall. One of the West coast teams(Seattle I think) was chasing us and we had the magic number down to 1 game. We let whoever we were playing against back in the game and we wound up going to extra innings. Meanwhile the team that was chasing us lost even though their game started 2 hours after ours did and we clinched while still playing a game we would go on to lose.

I was working nights then and was listening to it at work. I can still remember exactly where I was in the building when we clinched.
