5 walks in an inning. Well at least it won't be a one run loss, I guess.

Baltimore fired their manager

After he couldnt right the ship last year (after the all star break), and with all the “talent,” on the team as hitters, it had to be done.

Probably wont matter much this year considering the pitching is bad, but maybe they can get a competent manager who doesnt fuck with the lineup every other game, and makes better in game decisions.

Unfortunately, Elias is also to blame for roster construction and overall philosophy, and he wont go before at least the trading deadline.

Orioles fired manager Brandon Hyde.
Hyde’s dismissal follows a calamitous 15-28 start, which represents the fourth-worst record in baseball this season, and leaves the Orioles in last place in a crowded AL East division. The 51-year-old skipper helped guide Baltimore to the postseason each of the previous two years, but they’ve vastly underachieved this season relative to expectations. The front office deserves its share of the blame for personnel decisions, especially on the pitching side, that fueled the club’s disappointing performance. However, the manager is usually the first to be held accountable in these situations. Hyde departs with a respectable 421-492 record over seven years at the helm dating back to 2019. Third base coach Tony Mansolino will take over as interim manager, according to a team statement.

Unless your the red sox :suds:

meh. he's not the one who put together the pitching staff. The O's have a team ERA+ of 73. To say it's been bad is an understatement. They've fallen from grace, but those 2022 and 2023 teams also overachieved their pythag W-L. The 2023 team overachieved by 7 wins.

And why on Gods crusty pie would Rubinstein be dumb enough to fire Elias? For once the team is actually ahead of the curve with analytics and developing players, and we haven’t even begun to see the fruits of going into the Latin American market yet. Basallo was our first big signing and is knocking at the door.

Criticize Elias for not drafting pitching which is a fair criticism but man, Orioles fans are about ready to fire the one person who will have us competing for years. I just don’t get the animosity towards Elias. I can name maybe five teams who wouldn’t hire him as a GM right now if he became available.

And his analytics have gotten the O’s exactly what now? Zero playoff wins, and an entire team’s worth of highly touted prospects playing like hot garbage for about a full season now.

This doesnt even begin to talk about his disasterous trades last year, handling of Burnes this offseason, lack of extensions for any “cornerstone” players, or bullpen and starting pitching staff construction.

$15 million for Morton?
Kyle Fucking Gibson?
