Heineman is a 32 year old catcher with a 65 OPS+ over 285 career plate appearances. Not too much to say about his career minor league numbers. He hit well in Lancaster and the PCL, but those are very hitter friendly.

I like Hickey's bat. He draws plenty of walks and has shown plenty of power, I have hopes he can be a Napoli Lite at the plate. Not an MLB catcher, he can't throw any runners out.

Sad, but he was the only one left on the 40 man roster...

Joe West retired and everybody is looking to take his spot as the worst umpire in the MLB. Angel Hernandez has the inside line, but whomever this guy was he made a big jump.

I would fire him because he tried to defend his actions afterwards

They didn't fire Joe West for his call against the Yankees in the playoff that he told the reporter later "I trust my eyes more than your video" When shown proof he missed the call.

They didn't fire Don Denkinger when he missed a call that let Kansas City come back and beat the Cardinals in the 1985 WS.

This call (Foul Ball) didn't get anyone fired;

Jim Joyce didn't get fired for missing a call by 3 feet in Armando Galarraga's almost perfect game.

Nobody was fired in 2004 for calling Dave Roberts safe, or letting Ortiz use his Milkshake bat. :dhd:

I'm seeing stories about the Red Sox being 13-10 with a crappy lineup. Hooray!!!

Wait.... they are 1-6 against teams with winning records...

River Ave Blues put it best.

This is the 2023 offense with a Juan Soto paint job.

to be fair, I'd say there's a much higher chance Judge finishes with an OPS+ double his current (89) than him finishing anywhere near 89. I also doubt Torres finishes with a 59 OPS+

Yanks have a 103 OPS+ versus last year's 91. Offense has been down across baseball, and I don't think it's a stretch to say the colder east coast weather plays a role in that

They got 3 hit by the fucking Oakland A's. A guy with a 5 K/9 struck out 7 over 6 IP.

I'm not worried about Judge or Soto. Everyone else is extremely suspect.

I get the frustration, but baseball is prone to things like that. 1999 Pedro Martinez got lit up by an awful Marlins lineup (3.2 IP, 12 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 3 K's)... he had only one other start with more than 3 runs allowed that year (4 in 6 innings against Montreal)

Hell of a game tonight for Connor Wong. 3-3 with two homers. Cooper Criswell gave the Sox 5 scoreless.

The latest on Casas is he has a left rib fracture and could be out for "a while." Sox have been plagued with injuries, but honestly, this is probably the most painful one for me. Really enjoy watching him play and feel like he's poised himself to become one of the faces of the franchise.
