Indians 22-0 Yankees (Aug 31, 2004) Game Recap - ESPN
Expert recap and game analysis of the Cleveland Indians vs. New York Yankees MLB game from August 31, 2004 on ESPN.www.espn.com
Kinda funny to see that Javy Vazquez was an All-Star that year (his only All-Star season)... Yankees fans don't exactly have fond memories of him.
My first game at the New Yankee Stadium was 4/18/09 against the Indians. The Rangers had a playoff game earlier in the day so a buddy and I watched that game in a bar in upper Manhattan where the train (4) was right there. After the Ranger game, we hopped on the train and got to the Stadium just as the Yankees scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st to take a 2-0 lead. In the top of the 2nd they gave up 14 runs. We decided to take a good look at the new stadium since the game was basically over. We checked out every nook and cranny of the place. When we left in the 5th inning it was 20-0. The final score was 22-4.Shades of that Cleveland game about 10-15 years ago. Yanks lost 22-0 or something.
Thought that first inning was never going to end.
I remember that and that he was on the mound for Montreal when Cone pitched his perfect game.So talented, but him giving up the 2 HR to Johnny Damon in game 7 is what I'll always remember about him.

Yes! That is what we will ALL remember about him. <insert clinking glasses emoji>So talented, but him giving up the 2 HR to Johnny Damon in game 7 is what I'll always remember about him.

I remember that game against Clemens! I was a kid then, but learned on that day that no lead is ever safe against the Yankees.I've seen the Yankees make up deficits of up to 9 runs (Once against Boston and Roger Clemens in the mid 80s), but once it got to 11-zip, it was time to call it a day.
If I'm not mistaken an 11-0 lead has only been blown once in history. Cleveland came back on Seattle in the early 2000s.

Damn! That Sox lineup was loaded in those days. I’m guessing Greenwell was hurt because he should have been in there, too. That was a really good team.Boston was up 9-0 after 2, down 10-9 after 3. Good times!
