Plawecki was still on the bench, too? JD is lousy in the field, but he can handle a couple innings out there. There were 2 or 3 times where I was looking for him to bat.

I'm just basing it off what I heard.

I agree with you he should have been in there. He did have a helmet on in the dug out but was never brought out

No starting pitcher today? Who’s the opener going to be?

Was either going to be Deivi Garcia or a bullpen game, but I haven't seen anywhere that they've called Garcia up, so I'm guessing Nick Nelson will open it

Wow. They are really testing all that bullpen depth early.

Nelson hasn't pitched in a week, so he should be the most rested.

Nick Nelson will serve as an opener for the Yankees on Friday against the Rays.

Manager Aaron Boone relayed the news in an interview on MLB Network Radio on Friday. Nelson was a starter in the minors but has been used exclusively in relief at the big league level, so this will be an opener situation. Boone also said that the club will recall Mike King, who will function as a bulk reliever

I thought King was hurt. Huh.

Will be interesting to see the corresponding move for King.

Should be Bruce, but they'll probably send Abreu down.

Just realizing they could start Monty on full rest today.

But they're not.

I have no idea what these clowns are doing.

doesn't make much of a difference. You would have a point had today been a sunday and the end of a series. I rather have him tomorrow vs Glasnow instead of a bullpen game vs glasnow
