They chose him over Tanaka. None of us understood it at the time. At least you passed on Paxton, though.

I think they got out on Tanaka at the right time, once he starting getting hammered in the postseason, think they knew it was time, he was known for decent regular seasons and great postseasons

whether Kluber was the guy to replace him with is definitely a legit debate

Was Tanaka ever hurt? He was such a reliable innings-eater in an era when that matters more than ever. He also had one of his best seasons last year in the shortened season(before stinking it up in the playoffs). He’s not an ace, but certainly one of the better #3 or #4 starters out there. He averaged 167 innings in his full seasons with the Yankees. I wonder if Kluber + Taillon get there in 2021?

@nynasty I had to look up the Yankees’ huge International spend from several years ago. It was all the way back in 2014 and Sanchez wasn’t involved.

Are any of these guys still relevant prospects? Some big $$ spent on a few of them:

it's 8 out of 162 games. Playoff teams are going to have 3-5 stretches (or worse) every now and then. I love Yankee fan misery but this is just overreacting.

Yankees have beaten the Red Sox something in the neighborhood of 21 out of 25 since the beginning of 2019

Just sayin

Yup. It won’t be as easy this time around. The Red Sox were content to be doormats last year.

Surprised the Rays have owned the Yankees so badly, regardless.
