He was unhittable that year, after Sparky taught him the slider.

25-3 with a 1.74 ERA for a team that forced a 1 game playoff for the division, then he went out and won that game too.

But he wasn't the MVP.

:rolleyes2:

I miss the bandwagon days of my youth......which started much earlier when the Mets were the hot ticket in town....

I remember the Mets were on Channel 9

Yankees were on Channel 11

The poor Mets had some loser named Joe Torre as manager.

:)

Assuming the pen don't blow this lead, Yanks would move to 6-2 vs Tampa this season and wrap up their 3rd series win vs them

Yanks continue their AL East domination.

Cameron Maybin continues his HR streak. Only 4 more to catch Donnie Baseball. :)

Yanks gonna have a tough decision with him once Judge is back.

Based on the YES broadcast, seems like they were suggesting sending down one of the pitchers with options. Either Holder or Cortes

Still only 3 positions in the OF though.

And with the addition of Encarnacion there's not going to be a ton of DH at bats.

I guess if he keeps it up, he'll provide some value in a trade next month, but I for one will be sad to see him go.

Didn't watch, but I read the Sox had the lead run on 3rd with no out in extras twice and twice failed to convert.

That's a punch square in the nuts.

Such a shame.

:rolleyes2:

In the 17th guy on 3rd no outs for Martinez, Devers and Bogaerts.

They also wasted a lead off double at one point.

Twins wasted a lead off double in the 15th when Cron lined out and Rosario stupidly was doubled off.

In the 6th with 1st and 3rd no outs. Garver was picked off 3rd by the catcher.

It was a game of stupid

Everyone was a Met fan in the mid to late 80's when I was in High School.

It's a strange world we now live in. Throw in the Yanks being on the FAN now and the Mets on 880AM. It's Bizarro World

Yup, I was a Yankee fan when they sucked and everyone was a Met fan......So much for being a bandwagon fan....I rooted for Boston in 86’ also, knew very few Red Sox fans and tons of Met fans.....
