Quality start bro! :)

Once he figured out leaving his fastball on the outer half of the plate was a recipe for disaster, I thought he pitched capably.

Yeah that post was after the HR lol. Thought it was going to be another long night for him.

He settled down nicely

that's why you don't overreact to the first 2-3 innings. sometimes a pitcher has a rough inning and then dominates the rest of the night

Happ's struggling this year, but he also has a stupidly high HR/FB rate (22.2% in 2019, career 10.8%) and a .339 BABIP allowed. There's a lot of bad luck involved IMO. Happ was a good pitcher in 2015-18, but it seems like a lot of Yanks fans I know have already written him off.

Scheduled post: Rays win again!

Yonny Chirinos was brilliant. 5 innings of 1 hit ball behind Ryne Stanek who opened the game by striking out the side in the 1st inning.

Brandon Lowe blasted a monster 3 run HR in the bottom of the 1st which gave the Rays a 3-0 lead and they never looked back. The win clinches another series victory for the Rays who have yet to drop a series this season. The only downside to last nights victory was Tommy Pham's 48 game on base streak came to an end. Oh and the attendance of just over 9,000 people. Move the team to Tampa or else they will be moved out of state.

Hunter Wood will open for the Rays tonight against Andrew Cashner as the Rays go for the sweep. This SHOULD line up Charlie Morton and Tyler Glasnow to pitch the first 2 games of the Red Sox series.

Yanks and Rays will be the 2 playoffs teams from the AL East.

Hard to see it any other way right now. Sox have too much talent to be this bad all year right? Yanks will get healthy. Should be a fun 3 team race.

I'm a little irritated. Through 4 games, Bosox starting pitching has been so bad, I really haven't been able to get a feel for exactly how shitty that bullpen is.

My hunch is that it's plenty shitty tho. :heh:

Good hunch!

:)

Re: The Red Sox, something got to give there soon. That team is better than what they've shown so far this year aren't they?

PECOTA projects the Sox to go 80-63 over the remainder of the season (4th best projected record), which gets them to 86-76 and the #2 WC. Even with the Mariners hot start, they project to go 66-75 over the remainder of the season and a 79-83 finish.

Sox aren't going to give up 6+ runs per game all season long, just like the Rays aren't going to give up 2.39 R/G all season long. I still like our chances of making the playoffs, but it's going to take an awful lot to win the division IMO.

anyone thinking the Sox were going to come close to last year's 108 wins was going to be majorly disappointed. you need a lot of things to go right to win 100+ games, much less 108 (granted the Sox did it with some gaping holes (C, 2B, 3B), but they got a lot of star/superstar performances)

Rays drop the finale to the O's. Avi Garcia hit a game tying HR in the bottom of the 9th that still hasn't landed however the O's scored in the top the 11th to win 6-5.

3rd straight opener day for the Rays tonight as the Sox come to town. Ryne Stanek will pitch the 1st, likely followed by Ryan Yarbrough.
