Volpe had a good eye in the minors, having someone like Soto around certainly doesn't hurt.

Sad. Only 78...

I disagreed with some of his decisions - but I am forever grateful he brought Janet Marie Smith with him to Fenway... Before they arrived, talks were in place about building a new stadium. Larry would have none of it, and Fenway is now the greatest landmark in the United States...

Funny that I was initially upset that he couldn't lure Billy Beane out of Oakland and "settled" for Theo Epstein.

I didn't care for him for obvious reasons, but he was instrumental in the development of Camden yards, which is the most beautiful ballpark I've ever had the pleasure of being inside, so he wasn't all bad.

You have never been in the Greensboro Coliseum when the Hampton Roads Admirals were visiting. Talk about an ugly place to be. LOL

To my luck, Red Sox were playing in Baltimore for Cal Ripken's last three games. (Sadly, 9-11 postponed the series)

I sat in a different area for each game and all were great views. And the crowd and fanfare were out of this world... Amazing ball park.
