I'm sure Severino (bolded because Pastafazul can't spell for shit) will be fine. He's only made 20 starts at the MLB level and the first 11 were quite good. Also, he's only 22. MLB's pretty tough. You don't see a lot of young pitchers have sustained success in the majors immediately.

BUt you know how them Yankees and Red Sox fans are. Expecting everybody to be at a HOF level once they put on the jersey. Good thing we don't root for those teams right?

There is one. We expect to win the Series if we make the playoffs. Still the only MLB team to never lose a playoff series.

If there's a more grueling five-day stretch of the schedule anywhere in baseball this season, I'd like to see it.

Sunday marked the beginning of a stretch in which the Red Sox will play five games in four cities in about 99 hours against three teams that have winning records -- Boston to Cleveland to Baltimore to Detroit. If there's a more grueling five-day stretch of the schedule anywhere in baseball this season, I'd like to see it.

It'll be a rough one for sure. Even Tampa should be a pretty tough series, just because the Rays starting pitching has been a lot better in the 2nd half.

One thing I love about the 1 game wildcard playoffs game (even though I don't like much) is that it puts a whole lot of emphasis on winning the division. In most years the 2nd place team in the NL West/AL East would not care much about finishing 2nd but due to the 1 game WC game, everyone wants to finish 1st and be guaranteed of a best of 5 series

Just read this article about Detroit denying Boston's request to move the first game of their series back from 1:10pm.

Report: Tigers reject Red Sox request to change game time

They seem to suggest that the Tigers FO looked at the schedule and decided they wanted to pick this day in the middle of August to mess with an opponent. Seems like a bit much, but who knows.

Heck, Baltimore told the Ravens to go pound sand when they wanted to move the Orioles game to make things easier for Flacco and Friends.

Why would Detroit be willing to help Boston.
