They had the 2015 Cy Young on the mound against Tanaka who is good but not nearly as good as Keuchel was last season. You should always win a 1 game series when you throwing the cy young on the mound against a guy who is closer to a #2 than a #1.

yankees win yesterday but every other team in front of them also win. the yankees just need to try to win every series from here on in. and not worry what other teams that are ahead of them are doing

No you didn't. Will you disappear as I requested if the Yanks win at least 1 game in Houston since you're so sure that they will get swept?
YOU TELL THAT SON OF A BITCH THAT NO YANKEE IS EVER COMING TO HOUSTON, NOT AS LONG AS YOU SONS OF BITCHES ARE RUNNING THINGS!

Anyone who thinks Gardner over Ellsbery for any reason is a baseball more on, I already know of 1, no 2

Except that all the numbers vs LHP last year favored Gardy lol.....but we'll just ignore those

Let me get this straight, do we agree that ells is the better player? But you feel cause Gardner had Better #'s during the regular season vs lefties , so the decision was a no brainer for joe? Well , then I guess what it proved with Gardner going 0-4 in the lead off spot that game was joe had no brains?

Correct. I mean we were facing the 2015 Cy Young winner. It wasn't a guarantee that Gardy was going to go 4-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI lol. He went with the guy who had better numbers against LHP in a winner take all game. I have zero issues with that. My bigger issue was actually giving Chris Young the start in such a huge game.

The job of a leadoff hitter is to get on base. Gardner's OBP is 19 points higher. Ellsbury's only stolen four more bases.

Neither of them are having particularly great seasons anyway. Both have a sub-100 wRC+ and both have less than 2 WAR. Beltran (2.1), Didi (2.0) and Headley (1.6; this one is a bit surprising, defensive metrics rate him as an above average defender this year) all rank ahead of them on the Yankees.

What's really hurting the Yankees is that three of the bottom 10 players in WAR (minimum 200 PA) are all on the Yankees (A-Rod, Tex, Hicks). They've combined for 3 wins below replacement. A-Rod has the highest wRC+ among the three at 61, which is absymal for a DH. Hicks has a 45 wRC+. Hicks has been a huge disappointment this season after putting together a solid 2015. I doubt the Yankees miss J.R. Murphy very much though.

As Kay just said if you're not going to play A-Rod vs LHP, what is the point of him being on the team?

Does Girardi get any credit for the season Didi & Beltran are having? You can't blame him for guys playing poorly then not give him any credit for guys playing well

u really need to ask the question, look in the mirror
Until you can tell me what exactly you meant by calling someone a "more on", I will just assume that you are indeed the ignorant quim that you seem to be.

When the hell is Swihart coming back?!?!

David Price - so far I am not liking the signing.. Sure he gets "wins" but he has been so erractic and when he's been off he's been way off. I thought he had it "figured" out
