Farrell won't commit to Buchholz's next start

Red Sox manager John Farrell said there's no decision on whether Clay Buchholz will make his next start.

With Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) ready to come off the disabled list, Buchholz was likely pitching for his rotation spot Thursday against the Rockies. It didn't go well as the right-hander allowed a season-high six runs while watching his ERA balloon to 6.35. The Red Sox are famous for inventing injuries for struggling players and that might be their best option with Buchholz here. Buchholz has no confidence right now and is having a really difficult time with runners on base. We'd be surprised to see him make his next start Tuesday against Baltimore.

And Another thing that grinds my gears about girardi is the swapping of who appears on the injury list... Got dang it!!! Enough of this Schitt already. Sore neck. Sore Lat. sore hammy. Sore testickle. If it ain't broke or torn you play!!! Period! That what made you a professional athlete, the ability to play hurt!!!! I am sick of who it is this week. Who next week, how the hell can you maintain any chemistry with this going on, isn't it enough you give these guys so many days off when they are healthy???? It's about time Boggs got his number retired though. Batted .338/.428/.462 (142 OPS+) in 11 seasons with the Sox. 2nd most WAR (per Fangraphs) at 70.8 from 82-92, behind only Rickey (72.9). Ripken's third at 69.8, and then there's a pretty big gap between those three and the rest of MLB (Ozzie fourth at 54.1).

It wasn't a save situation. He obviously didn't want to use Betances/Chapman today if he could have avoided it. Only reason he used Miller up 4 is because Miller did not pitch for a while.

Yes it did turn out to be. That happens from time to time. It doesn't mean from this point on that he should waste Chapman in the 9th when the Yanks are up 4 or 5 runs
