Here's the good side of things. Every championship team must overcome adversity to win the championship. What better time to have your adversity, but at the beginning of the season?
You hate to lose any game at home, but there are plenty of teams that won championships with a poor start on the season.
The Broncos started this season with the assumption that they were going to run the ball to set up the pass. Yet - Viola!! late in the game against the Bears - the Broncos had to pass the ball down the field to score and almost win the game. Flacco is turning out to be a QB whose judgement you can trust - the Broncos need to open up the offense and put some trust in Flacco - he's earned it.
My bold prediction is that these Broncos will surprise everyone by becoming a formidable offense - a point scoring crew of talent. When that happens this season will flip and the Defense gets to play to it's strength. That's when these Broncos will be making a good run through the schedule. Book it - Dano!!!
The 1st thing to do is fit Bolles with a electronic collar - someone on the sidelines gives him a little jolt when he is supposed to let go of the block. He needs only to learn to disengage his blocks - rather than trying to bulldoze someone to the ground. Three of his four holding calls were on run plays when the action had already cleared his space.
I'd also be looking into Yiadom's eye's to see if he is going to be able to get to the next level - or if he is one of those guys who needs to sit a while to get his head together.
The Broncos have enough good tacklers on this team - they need to be jumping the short routes to pick off passes - that's what puts doubt in a QBs mind after the snap.
