I was willing to live with the trumbo deal because we got our much needed power bat but this is just bad. Yes Addison is coming off a career season but the majority of us believed that Davidson would be the breakout player of next season. You are treading thin ice, towers! If you don't get tanaka, you should be fired for giving away this teams future!

What the heck is KT doing? Does it seem like he has an actual plan or that he just sort of makes all these trades spur of the moment with no rhyme or reason? Probably ends up shifting lots of pieces for the same results.

Is "winging it" considered a plan?

This was another desperation move for a closer... I like it more than the Trumbo trade, though. We get a young, established closer that is under control for dirt cheap for the next 4 years? As much upside as Davidson has I think that's a fair trade based on current value.

Alright, KT really needs to go. I've definitely had enough of him trading away the team's future.

That's pretty solid

Are they actually going to call up Barrett and Stites, though? They'll probably wait until the season is almost over to bring them on board.

KT said he would've brought up Stites last year if it weren't for the injury so I think we'll see him soon. No clue on Barrett, though.

OK, I'm calm now. At least Reed is young. I'm glad that Towers didn't go after some old, has been closer.

You guys are clueless. Davidson had little to no value anymore for the Dbcks, other than a trade asset. once Trumbo was acquired, sending Prado back to 3B. How was Davidson going to "breakout" if he had no position to play? Trading him for Reed was a very good deal that solves many problems for the Dbacks.

Stites & Barret will both get looks in spring & will have every opportunity to make the opening day roster. Thatcher might still be traded & Reynolds will not be back till mid-season.

The BP will likely look like this on opening day:
Reed
Putz
Hernandez
Thatcher or some other Lefty
Zeigler
Stites
Collmenter

With this trade, Putz/Hernandez become expendable in late spring if the young arms show they are ready.

I wouldn't say clueless! You're better than that mike! I understand who became expendable or not but that doesn't mean I have to like it! I am going to be bitching hardcore if Davidson turns into a star and we only ended up with a guy who may or may not pan out! The deal is actually decent if Addison can replicate his numbers from last year but I can't accept trading away 4 of our top ten prospects when we have been told that this team is going to build through youth. If we don't get tanaka, this whole offseason was for not. We could have traded these prospects for a guy of the likes of David price. We are depleting a farm system for the win now moment. If it fails, Towers and this team are in trouble and right back where they were in 2008.

Davidson & Eaton were no longer prospects, they were MLB players. There was no room for Davidson on the field. Eaton just had a the unfortunate luck of playing the same position as Pollock & not being as good as him. They were both traded because, in case Dback fans haven't noticed, we are in "WIN NOW" mode. They were both traded for players who are at this time & over the next few years, better players.

Skaggs' stock had slipped & he was no longer looked at as a #1/2 SP. The Rotaion & farm are filled with arms that be #3-5 SP(s). He needed to be traded in order to land a power bat that was desperately needed. These days power bats are not cheap. You act like he was the #1 prospect in our farm system.

The prospects/players that were traded couldn't get us Smjajajsda, let alone Price. Do you think that every one of those guys that were traded weren't offered in a deal for Price/Sale/Smardjaama?

With the Trumbo trade, outside of SS, the lineup is basically set for the next 3 years. And now with a young proven closer, that makes the only thing that we have to worry about at this time is the rotation. There really are no other holes on the team at this time. And if KT manages to land a Tanaka(unlikely)/Garza(hopefully not)/Santana(too much $$$)/Jimenez(The best value) or some other SP, there really would be no reason why the Dbacks shouldn't contend in 2014 instead of being 81-81 again with shelves full of prospects.

The farm system is far from depleted. The Dbacks still have a top 10 farm system & have plenty of arms coming up in the next 2 seasons. Bradley, Barrett, Stites, & Spruill should all contribute in 2014. After that you have Chafin, Meo, Marshall, & Blair sometime in 2015. Chafin may even see spot duty in 2014 if he continues to shine like he did in 2013. Then the next wave starts with Shipley.

You guys, we're fine. Keith Law just wrote an article on how the White Sox got the better end of the deal. That confirms that we won the trade.

This one is hard to judge right now, but there is reason for skepticism. Davidson is pretty highly rated and showed some promise last year.

One thing is clear...the closer role just got a massive upgrade. Or so it seems. Reed's sample size is still relatively small, but it's impressive (by D-backs standards).
