$266,667 to be exact.

$25.7M to Defensemen (9)
$27.1M to Forwards (11)
$6.2M to Goalies (2)

I would imagine a couple Dmen will go to the minors and Bieksa should be traded which may free up about $5M and Im hoping the return for Bieksa is moreso a prospect than a draft pick. I really dont know his value anymore

Or move Bieksa to forward. Maybe he's that 3rd line checking winger we've been wanting.

... or not

well seeing as how Malhotra makes $2.5 I guess Bieksa falls in line for what we pay 3rd liners.........

what if scenario using capgeek numbers starting from where canucks are at:

59.133

traded: Bieksa, SOB, Alberts (-6.4 mill)

connauton makes team (+0.9 mill)

perrault, bolduc to the minors (-1.01 mill)

raymond re-signs (+2.85 mill)

Hodgson & Schroeder make team (+2.695)

= 58.168 mill ... i dont know where Jannik Hansen or Glass slot in??? it will be tough to get any type of return for bieksa, SOB or Alberts in the form of a solid 3rd liner when the cap numbers are rolling like that ... i think they are looking at draft picks, projects, or other teams trash ... if one of the 2 superrooks dont end up making the team they will be able to find that 3rd liner at some point in a bieksa trade. But that determination can only be made after training camp so do they trade bieksa now and the 3rd liner they acquire for him ends up getting waived in favour of Hodgson or Schroeder sticking with the team?

the timing of things will be interesting ... wait to long and other teams wont have the cap space to trade or wont need what the canucks are offering

connauton won't make this team.

Bieksa is gone and 1 of Alberts/O'brien are gone......it leaves as Rome (#7) and O'brien/Alberts (#6).

Perrault/Bolduc is a no brainer to the minors.

Agreed on Raymond, around 2.75.

As for Hodgson/Schroeder, they will only count 850k this year, the remaining is in the form of a bonus and will count against next year's cap.

Also, keep in mind that we were penalized 90k against our cap from bonuses last year.

So if we get rid of Bieksa, Alberts and send Perrault/Bolduc down......we are currently sitting at $53,323,333, which leaves us with $6,076,667 to get Raymond, Hodgson, Schroeder inked, but we also need a 13th forward as well. So given that Raymond comes in at 2.75, Hodgson and Schroeder (I don't think both make this team) come in together at 1.7, we have about 1,626,667 left over, which at least 50% will be taken by that extra forward. That leaves us with 813k and change for the season.

That's a good point, I always seem to forget that when doing rough math.
