The only way this league survives is if the NFL gets on board. Otherwise, it was doomed before the first game.

In order for a football minor league to be successful, it has to be supported fully by the NFL itself, which this obviously wasn't.
The NFL won't do that anyways because it has a free minor league system with NCAA football.

Same time!
Bummer.
I've enjoyed watching the games. I like spring football.
I like that they don't have any gimmicky stuff. Just football.
It would be in the NFL's best interest to support the league. It could provide a better overall product for the NFL. There are probably 5-10 players who will be on NFL rosters next season.
That's a good point. Since the game play is very much like the NFL, it would be nice for the NFL to test shit out in the AAF before implementing it in the NFL.The other part of this the NFL could use the league to test out rules and give Referee's more games. The more the Referee's officiate games all year long the better they will be.
This is Dundon posturing to get the NFLPA to allow younger players to play in the AAF. And probably also looking for financial support from the NFL.
And Dundon is not stupid enough to just drop $250 mil in one lump sum. His deal allows him to get out at any time. So he may have "committed" that much money, he is just feeding them enough to remain operational.
His (Dundon) biggest issue to overcome with the NFLPA... they aren’t going to sign off on even practice squad players being exposed to the possibility of “year round football”. From a player safety standpoint, they would look like fools.
Well and the union isnt going to collect dues from their members doing the exact same job in a different league. If the NFL just paid for the AAF to be a minor league system the NFLPA would sign off in half a second.
Why would the NFL do that?
They have college football.
I think it would be to the NFL's advantage to support the AAF. They could use it as a test for new rules. They could use it as a training ground for refs. The AAF plays a very similar style to the NFL, so there would be advantages other than allowing fringe players a chance to hone their skills. Why would the NFL do that?
They have college football.
AAF is doomed.
Fuck, I just bought jerseys and season tickets.....
