Wojtek Wolski is on the move again. He's headed to the Rangers for Roszival.

Seems like a strange move to me for Phoenix. They seem to give up the younger, better player and get a bigger cap hit in return. Wolski must have pissed someone off big time.

Coyotes trade Wolski to Rangers for Rozsival

Good trade for the Rangers. It should be easier for them to spell "Wolski".

^^^^^ this .sad to say but I think Wolski makes the rags better. The guy is not only a good puck mover and streak scorer but he's very good in shootouts.they could have done allot better than rozival

Anybody know the 'Yotes cap situation?

Without looking and having any clue (i.e., totally pulling this from you-know-where) could it be that they're looking to take on some extra salary because they're getting ready to move someone else and need to stay above the floor?

I don't see how it might have played a role. They're at 49.6 now, which means they were close to 51 before the trade. Plenty of room between the ceiling and the floor in both cases. Both Wolski and Rozsival are signed for one more season.

I'm tired of seeing the rangers always winning trades and then the exact opposite is proven afterwards. How about waiting until Wolski improves before saying rangers do so well here.

It's happened with the Zherdev/Tyutin trade and the Korpikoski/Lisin trade.

The Rangers always trade the unspectacular but steady player for the super talented head case. They also usually lose out in the long run.

Sather didn't do too bad unloading Giant Pile Of Salary Cap Space Scott Gomez on Montreal, he apparently has a silver tongue in trade negotiations. When it comes to free agency though...

I picture in my mind a garage sale. A dude is standing behind a table, three or four disinterested people are milling around the junk a day before he takes it to Goodwill, and one guy notices an old wood-grain 1980's television.

"Hey man, what do you want for that TV?"

"I don't know, five bucks..."

"Five bucks? It doesn't even have a cord. I'll give you three."

"Three? That's not a lot... ah, fuck it... take it"

Suddenly a red faced sweaty man in a disheveled suit runs up clutching a fist full of hundred dollar bills, screaming "Wait! Wait! Waiiiiiiittt!!!"

Does anyone ever get the feeling that Phoenix is sometimes used as Bettman's "dummy team"? Like if a GM has a need, be it cap space or a defenseman, and they can't find any willing trade partners, they can just call up "the warehouse" and order a spare part.

absolutely... they took a couple of Calgary's salary dumps last year to allow the Phaneuf trade to go through.
there was another pick-up that was a real head-scratcher as well, but again it made sense when the party of the 2nd part made it's subsequent deal.

Go Gary Go. no really. Go.

Well that answers that question. Thanks for doing the research I was too lazy to do. :D
