They'll fun into cap trouble if it takes them much longer than that. Both the Pens and Hawks went from bottom feeders to Stanley Cup champs in that amount of time. With the right moves I can certainly see the Oilers following suit.

I think Dash could be right though that the Senators might be closer. And now that I think of it the Habs have a nice mix of young talent at all positions either on their current roster or in their system. If they can hire the right guys to be coach and GM they could bounce back nicely.
