He never will be beloved, I don't think he would have been had he won the home run crown. He's just too easy to hate. Arrogant, asshole, cheat, those are just a few words most would use to describe A-Roid.
Terrible contract, maybe the worst in league history. He absolutely stuck it to the Yankees on the back end of that one.
Not to mention he was going to have a guy killed to cover up his crimes and the only reason that guy went to the feds is because he was terrified of what A-Roid's goons would do to him.
