First off, if you usually dont use wifi, turn it off in your general setting app. If you do, the benefit is faster connectivity so long as you stay within that connections signal. I just turn it off to save battery life and stay on 3g.

Sorry, didnt address your other question, you do not use data either when on wifi. Luckily I am grandfathered into the unlimited data plan.

If you are ever roaming or have a weak signal, you should use wifi.

Yeah I figured as much. I get 3G everywhere. I could just turn it back on if I am in bumblefuck Kentucky but near a Starbucks, I suppose.

Np bro. If you leave it on your phone will continuously search for wifi networks draining your battery. You'll notice a difference in battery life turning it off.

I just use the google maps app that comes standard with my iphone. They have straight up GPS's that you can purchase for the phone, but for the price i'd rather just buy one to leave in my car.

Yeah, I didn't like the google maps thing, unless I am using it wrong. I bought the Verizon one for like $4 a month but it keeps telling me that I am off-roaring which is hard in a Lexus sedan, ha.

I may just buy a Garmin, and say fuck it, ha.

I have no issues with the Google one. I liked that I could get walking directions also with it.

I would go that route also. I plan on buying one when I get a new car.

Yea, I have no issues with it. Actually works pretty damn good.

...fucking hippie!!!

:)

I may be using it wrong but it doesn't talk and always needs ms to recalibrate it. That is the one thing I miss about my droid. I do like the walking though, when visiting fronds in cities.

Wifi saves more energy than 3g by the way.

Perhaps once yu are connected, I dunno, never use it. But if your phone is continuously searching for a wifi connection and you dont use one, you are wasting battery life.

I haven't used the one on iPhone. I know for my Andriod I had to download text to talk or something like that to have it talk to me.

What SLY said. If it is continously searching and not connecting or if it keeps connecting and disconnecting from different networks it will waste your battery way faster.
