Notre Dame can pick up all the canceled B1G/Group of 5 games now.

September 12
Ball State
Central Michigan
BYU
Tulane
Western Kentucky

September 19
Air Force

Notre Dame MUST replace Wisconsin, Stanford, and USC.

Now if the ACC actually dumps Notre Dame(they won't), that would be hilarious.

ND has 5 ACC games.

Like the other conferences, they will likely add additional games, probably to get to 10.

Makes sense that ND would just add 5 other ACC games, right?

Maybe COVID will finally do something good and get ND in a fucking conference.

Yeah, we'll see about that. Swarbrick said they were discussing all conference + 1 OOC. Clemson has played South Carolina every year since 1909. I don't see them agreeing to play ND and giving that game up while FSU gets to keep UF. And the ACC needs Clemson football way more than the other way around. I don't think they're quite as big, but I doubt GT would give up UGA or Louisville Kentucky either. It also makes no sense to say no ooc game against an in state rival because of Covid because it's dangerous and so teams have to go to Indiana.

Swofford is a moron, so I doubt he's smart enough to realize he has all the bargaining chips to force ND to be a full-time member right now. They already lost Wisconsin, they'll lose USC and Stanford too. If they want to play football at all, they need to dance to the ACC's tune.

I have all the confidence in the world that the ACC will come up with a deal as sweet as the one they did when they let ND be a full member in all sports and keep our independence in football.

We already got 6 games scheduled against the ACC. I can't see the AAC doing conference games only because their teams are all over the place, so maybe we can still get the Navy game in this year. That's 7 right there. Schedule Virginia Tech(PSU game cancelled), Miami(Michigan State game cancelled) and Cuse(Colgate game cancelled). Gets us 10.

It'll be pretty easy to get 10 if all conferences go to conference games only because ACC schools will have a lot of inventory to fill.

This is assuming all conferences play 10 games. Which this is all assuming the season won't get cancelled, but it will anyway.

He's not smart enough to see it. But if there's a way to kickback some money to his son, then you'll know for sure he'd run like hell to get that deal done

With the Pac going to a Conference only schedule, Alabama and Notre Dame can now hook up in 2020!

I mean we all knew once one did it.
Yep. It's just a parlor game. At the end of the day, I expect all conferences to go to conference games only before suspending season until the Spring. At this point, I really don't care.

Maybe a new conference could come out of this:
Notre Dame, Stanford, So. Cal, Syracuse, Duke, Vanderbilt, Miami, Boston College.
Plus Rice, Tulane, Navy, Army or Air Force to balance.
It would be the (next to the Ivy League but very close) best academic league. And combined would have more NCAA championships than any other conference.
Just wishful thinking but I always liked the idea.

This year maybe you're right. But I don't see this lasting more than 1 year unless the virus is still going.

ACC will take care of ND, but it would have made great sense if they played in the Big 12 for this season only, it would work perfectly to get 10 conference games.

Not so sure. Home and Home, with Alabama dropping Mercer or Citadel and coming to South Bend in November.

fyi: Alabama and Notre Dame have played 4 time in the regular season (1976, 1980, 1986 and 1987). 3 of the 4 games (1976, 1980 and 1987) were in November including both games @ Notre Dame (1976 and 1987). The other game was in October (1986). So, Alabama has already played Notre Dame 3 times in November, but ND has never played Alabama in September and only 1 time in October. Looking forward to the future home and home already scheduled in '28 and '29 and would love for the two to find a way to play this year (if there is a season) in Sept., Oct., or Nov., home, away or neutral. @ Soldier Field in October would be awesome!

They'll never join a football conference.
Hey your mouth to God’s ears but even the most faithful among us can see that there may be a time when it’s inevitable. At which point the school really ought to decide if it wants to continue playing football.
