They need to make sure miggy is 100 percent healthy before he plays this year. He is one player that does not need spring training. This is it for JV, hes over a year removed from his surgery. If hes not dominating by May, IM not sure he will ever be himself again. Cespedes will have a monster year batting in a lineup with miggy and vmart, speaking of vmart, they need to trade him in the next year or two. Hes going to decline quick. If they signed vmart its because they believe they can still win the world series, which means they intend to sign max as well.

I see DD has said his rotation is set.

Scherzer should be inking his deal to stay any day now.

Brace yourself folks, the domination is about to continue.

Heard they been in contact with james shields.

Ahaha first meetchickin misses a bowl. Now they are about to rejoin the NIT. And all their fans were talking how they run the state. After 2 good yrs. This will be sparty's 18th tourney in a row if they can squeak out a few more wins. Lose 3 great players and izzo may still make the tourney. Just goes to show beilein isnt even close to izzo.

Yeah ridiculous.

They will regret it.

I only wanted him in the Bronx on a 3 or 4 year deal.

For some reason Hammer took away my mod ability on the MLB boards so I can't sticky it... But like Moose said it won't ever fall off the 1st page...

Yeah once Spring training start I'm sure this thread will get rolling.

Just got to keep it on the front page for the next few weeks leading up to ST

Well, some hockey talk to lift the thread back up a little -- Red Wings win, Lightning lose, and the Wings take over 1st place in the Atlantic. Tied with NY Islanders for most points in the Conference.

When I saw the young talent last year, I figured maybe a 5 or 6 seed in the playoffs this year. Long way to go, but they're looking like Top 3 at the moment. The kids have progressed much better than expected.

Detroit Farm system ranked 30th... tsk tsk.
That should surprise no one. Dombrowski has consistently used prospects to get front-line veteran talent. For the most part, it has worked well for the team, despite not winning the World Series. Most of the prospects dealt away have not become anything more than average major leaguers. Several did not pan out in the Bigs at all. Jacob Turner (traded for Anibal Sanchez) regressed badly last year after 1.5 decent seasons in Miami. Andrew Miller finally found a niche as a setup reliever, but would you rather have him or Miguel Cabrera?

And you look at the Top 4 farm systems in those rankings: Cubs, Twins, Astros and Mets. All have paid for it with 3, 4 or more losing seasons.

The thing is I would gladly give some of those prospects for a team that had a chance every year. You can turn a weak farm into a good farm in just a couple drafts but you can't turn a 90 lose team into a good team in a couple seasons unless you go get some free agent talent to mix in with the kids.
