True, without the snap back to the punter, the ball is around the 50. If the punter falls on the ball, it's about a 55-yard FG attempt, and MSU would just take a shot at the end zone anyway. Oh well. Bad decisions all around.
Strangely, MSU outgained UM pretty handily on offense, and had 20 first downs to Michigan's 10. Michigan special teams (and some ill-timed dropped passes by MSU in UoM territory) mostly accounted for the 2-point difference in the game, until that one final special teams play.
