Nashville elects on Weber, New Jersey on Parise

I believe that takes these two out of the running for RFA offer sheets.

Agreed. I don't know Nashville's cap situation next year, but I'd imagine they will retain him. Put your money on Parise staying in NJ (especially after they give him the captaincy this year).

these elections basically guarantee that these players will be with their same respective teams next season at least.

it doesn't stop the teams from negotiating for a longer term deal, but a plan B is in place that will get a (usually) one year in place between the parties from an arbitrator.
What it does prohibit, is from other teams bringing forward offer sheets on the players.

it also usually means that after the term of the arbitration deal, the player is UFA. So the pressure is still on for both teams to get long term contracts in place.

not suprised, the filing is an in case/formality. this way he's protected at least for the year.

it does worry me slightly that talks apparently haven't started yet, at least according to was zach told TG. but i'd also have to imagine with a bit of an ownership fiasco (the minority owners trying to sell), searching for a coach and having the 4th pick overall is probably taking up a decent amount of time.

i'd assume that unless zach truely does not want to stay in NJ, something he has said he does want to do more than anything, unless he was lying once negotiations start i could guess it might happen pretty quickly.

Just glad to see that Lowebellini is denied an offer sheet on Weber...

i'm gonna assume that was mostly just chatter among fans. nothing more than a wish.
lowebellini may not know how to run a ship the best way but i'm gonna assume they're not so stupid as to assume that nashville wouldn't do everything to secure a norris candidate for as long as they could, and arbitration while it might not be the ideal choice, buys them a year

I would say on Nashville especially. With Weber up for the Norris this year, his arbitration award is likely to be even higher than it would have been. If they actually let him get to arbitration, they're going to pay big time this year and then still have to sign him to a huge deal before he hits UFA.

Kings reportedly have a big offer on the table for Drew Doughty and the Bolts have yet to lock up Stamkos...

Stevie Y is nuts if he lets Stamkos anywhere near RFA status. He's gonna have to match a huge offer sheet if he does.
