Sparkle and Fade was one of those albums I was unsure about. Naturally, the first track was pretty stellar and led into Heroin Girl. I actually bought in on vinyl. Strawberry sounds funny as hell sped up.

Someone mentioned Manson earlier. Id go as far to say that this is his best track and most people havent heard it

Green Day is one of those bands whether you like 'em or not you still know all their songs.

60 some odd posts in and still no Pavement, Stereolab, Guided By Voices, Wilco, Soundgarden, Fugazi, NIN, Mr. Bungle, Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, Phish, Collective Soul, Yo La Tengo, Flaming Lips.....

I was going to go there but I am surprised and also no one tried to throw in an early nineties hair band when it was fading fast. Most people don't admit but that was the time to be going to concerts all the dudes looked like chicks and the chicks were easy!

Anyway out of the 80's and into the 90's:

Fully agreed on the TV. The first half of the 90s were amazing. The 2nd half was about on par with whats out now.

70s > 80s-early90s > whats out now, late 90s > 2000-2005 which sucked hard

Once Mtv moved to a teen soap opera / reality tv show channel in the mid 90s, it killed a major outlet for musicians to be heard and survive the developmental deals with their labels. The labels started pumping out bands that would have only 1 or 2 good songs on their records like drive by shootings, and by a weak second record, they would dump them.

Metal and Rock was treated like the Ebola Virus by the labels for the most part in the 90s which really drove the musicianship expected down.

Then add the big push into pop singing boy and girl bands like Backdoor boys and Spice Girls. Barf.

Yeah it really is a shame and that was truly the downfall. On a positvie side a friend of mine is a guitar and piano teacher, it seems more kids are getting interested again in playing rock music.

I never cared that much for this song but it came on the radio the other day and my co-worker and I froze because it had probably been a full decade or more since we had heard it.

Anyone else listen to Body Count? I actually still have the Cop Killer cassette tape with the actual song "Cop Killer" before it was banned. The lyrics were funny and I loved it. Lead singer was the OG Ice "Motha Fuckin" T!!!:hdn:

Great choice man!

Thank God for Pantera in the 1990s!!! I still listen to all their music and it is not possible for me to ever get burned out on them. One of my favorite bands of all-time hands down.
