Game Thread: 9/3 First @ First With First on the line

The Rivercats just threw a combined no-hitter, pretty impressive in the league formerly known as the PCL.

Gudino pitched 4 innings, with 9 K's
Menez pitched 3 innings with 3 K's
Cyr pitched 1 inning with 1 K
Gott pitched 1 inning with 2 K's

So I caught the last four innings on the MLB app here in Canada. My thoughts:

1. That third inning was atrocious. It'd be one thing if it were against Scherzer, Urias, or Saggy Pants....but it was Wholestaff. Awful
2. The entire team seems to be in an offensive funk. Buster, Craw, KB, Yaz, LimpDick all are scuffling big time. Hope it ends soon.
3. Disco was magnificent...second greatest takeaway from last night is that he might be back. Maybe he can whisper to Gas?
4. McGee was PHUKING AWFUL. Again. Just mindnumbingly bad way too often this year. I'm comfortable with him being a 7th/8th inning guy but he's not a closer. Maybe Harleeeen?
5. Good to see Longo get an AB, hope he can make a start soon.
6. Two Wholestaff games for us now vs. Urine and SaggyPants...we absolutely HAD to win last night...and did. Not sure how, but we did.

Not a big fan of the game, despite the score.

The one thing that stood out to me was the floating strike zone. It did go both ways which is good but to see one pitch called a strike and the next in the same exact spot called a ball is ridiculous. It’s like the umps are just begging to get that robo ump in there.

I don't agree....it wasn't obvious who the ump called out. That shitshow of an inning was squarely on Jake McSuck.

He ran AROUND Turner to tag the trail runner (Turner?).

I understand Posey likely realized he messed up. And I am OK with it. It happens.

completely disregards why the runners were there to begin with. Can't assume a double play

Justin Turner was the lead runner. Not sure who the trail runner was but he was already called out on the initial tag when both were on the bag. It seemed pretty clear to me as to who the the umpire called out on that particular part of the play. Not sure what was going on in Busters head but that brain fart definitely allowed the inning to continue and should have ended the game. I agree with you there.
