Webb was beginning to deal and was still only at 78 pitches on the day. If it were 2-outs, none on, I think Webb would have stayed in. And Webb was ready to hit until Babe walked.
I know that was not entireably forseeable but if Webb had hit, this inning would probably still be alive.
