You can't block it if you don't have the ball. At least that's what I learned from that play in that one game playoff between Colorado and San Diego a few years back.

I guess The Rockies would argue that the catcher was moving his legs to catch the ball. I don't know. Looked like he purposely put his knee out there to make contact with Sanchez way before the ball got there.

Phillies are 3 games back from the wildcard. And the Pads are on an absolute tear.

Just unbelievable. The Phillies front office had apparently given up on this season, yet here they are only 3 back.

Padres have been beating up on good teams and are 6.5 games back. Can a miracle happen for them?

They could be tied for 2nd today if the doggies lose. Maybe we do need to shift our gaze...

Nine of their remaining games are against The Braves and Nats. If they can win most of those games, they have a shot.

Crazy.

As for the Pads...no way. Wait...(see A's)

The amount of hanging 2-strike pitches the starters are leaving up there these last few weeks is making me just sick.

Tim has walked a guy in 8 straight innings.

But a nice recovery there, down 3-0 to K out.

Heck of a 3-2 by Timmeh. (slider?)

Giving up only one run seems like a major accomplishment.

A 25-pitch inning after getting the first 2 guys out. I hope he lasts at least 5 innings.

A tough road ahead, especially the Padres, but the Dodgers and Cards are choking so hard that anything seems possible now. The Pirates look finished and the D-Backs have been way too inconsistent. The Brewers also lurk.

We have to face those Father bastards six more times. Not looking forward to it.
