Lefty 99
Gotta say, if we do end up losing this one, it is at the feet of PEAVY. TAKING AN 8 FIGURE SALARY TO NOT PITCH 6 INNINGS IS LARCENY.
Jeez, Cal, editing you is a full time gig....

My initial reaction to the price may have been an over-reaction. I am not sure why we need another OFer, though. Who will sit? Aoki?
And the trade has not been mentioned by Kruk and Kuip yet. Odd.
So who should the Giants have gotten instead?Jeez, Cal, editing you is a full time gig....
While I agree with the masses here (in a vacuum).....when 4 of your 5 pitchers for most of the year (not blaming Leake) only go 5 innings most of the time, Bochy is gonna have to extend his starters where possible if they've shown good results up to that point. I think Boch is a victim of circumstance here more than he's forgotten when/where to pull starters. You can only go back to the well so many times.I would guess that pitchers love that Noggin sticks with them, has faith in them. Especially the vets. But this love for pitchers and leaving them in too long has really bitten us concerning both Cain and Peavy this year. Peavy is an 80 pitch pitcher. Period. Terrible decision to leave him in too long.
Duffy, Belt, Posey. If anything is gonna happen it better happen now.
Maxwell is pretty much useless, and they mainly want him for his lefty bat.

Best to do it now, but we will have Byrd/Craw/JCP(??) in the ninth, assuming 1-2-3 8th.Duffy, Belt, Posey. If anything is gonna happen it better happen now.
He's a CF/LF, so maybe Oxy is not coming back as planned?
If this were July 31 instead of August 31, I would agree. While I agree with the masses here (in a vacuum).....when 4 of your 5 pitchers for most of the year (not blaming Leake) only go 5 innings most of the time, Bochy is gonna have to extend his starters where possible if they've shown good results up to that point. Ysla's numbers were bad in San Jose and he wasn't on my list of top 25 prospects but DeAza feels like a knee jerk reaction to do SOMETHING before September 1st. However, it does seem that DeAza plays well with his new team before fading badly.Oxy played all 9 innings tonight. He's fine and will be here tomorrow. I really think it's mostly for a threat off the bench. All we have is Maxwell, EA and Perez off the bench.
