Yeah, don't bother to understand what has made up the teams' schedules. That'd be a ridiculous thing to do. . .

It's more about the players, the pitching, the team chemistry...and producing on the field...as well as having a front office that's adept and astute.

The schedules?...not so much.

Gotta play the games...there are always streaks & slumps....the key is capitalizing on the former and minimizing the latter.

You're erroneously trying to deconstruct the season by oversimplifying matters, and for some reason are unable to give credit where it's due.

Meh....it' all good.

Carry on, my wayward son.

I'm not sure if you understand what the words you type mean.

Cardinals pitchers have a crazy low 2.65 ERA as a team and yet only have the 6th best WHIP in baseball
Cleveland pitchers have a 3.82 ERA and yet have the 3rd best WHIP

WHIP overrated?

That's untrue. Our difference is that I don't think winning what is by far the worst division in baseball deserves too much credit. In fact, I believe that if the Mets were in any other division in baseball -- where they'd have to, you know, face major league baseball teams regularly -- they'd be about a .500 team. I just don't think they deserve too much credit at this point because they haven't shown much.

It's like when the Indians went on that ridiculous run in the second half a few years and got into the playoffs. I was psyched they were there, but I didn't delude myself into thinking they were one of the best teams in baseball.

Now, if the Mets somehow tear through the post season and win a championship, despite being the worst team to be playing October ball, that will be a hell of an accomplishment and you'll see me giving credit for it.

Depending on how you rate it, yes. It's definitely not my go to, but it is good to augment other stats.

No you didn't.

My uncle was a scout for the Mets back in the 80s and his wife used to write the media guide for y'all, so I am one of the few Yankees fans that doesn't outright hate the Mets. I just like to give Hu a little hell, but that statement went too far. The front office is one of the main reasons y'all have been so bad over the past eight or nine years.

I know they've been deplorable under this ownership....but the Alderson triad has done a decent job these last 2-3 yrs, all things considered.

FTR: by FO, I was referring to the GM etc. not the Wilponzi's, who I absolutely can not stand...and wish they'd sell the team.

No kidding. I almost choked on my gum when I read that bit from him. That franchise has a history of ineptitude that's unmatched in MLB. From ownership on down to the guys selling peanuts.

I don't hate the Mets at all - there's no reason to. It'd be like hating the handicapped kid down the street.

What I'm amused by is the number of Mets fans that don't understand where the Mets rank in the hierarchy of baseball outside of Flushing. There were a few of them on FN and it seems there's at least one here. Maybe it's their geographical proximity to the Yankees that gives them an unrealistic view of their team?

C- Ya!

It'd likely be much more effective to say something like, "(x) is why I think the Mets are a great team," or "I don't think the Mets' historically weak schedule has had much impact on their record or perceived skill because (y)."

Then again, I have no fucking idea what you'd use as (x) or (y), so I can't rightly blame you for posting silly pics.

Hahahaha.....a tribe fan debating the nuances of what it takes to be a successful team???
Talk about inept....how long has it been for you mistakes by the lake now??

Not as long as those luvable Cubbies...but pretty damn close, amirite?

This is exactly what I'm talking about in terms of certain Mets fans' delusions.

The Indians have made the playoffs more times in the past 20 years than the Mets have in their entire 54 year existence.

Hey, if your bit is "well, the Mets won a championship in 1986," then you've got me there. That championship was awesome, and Stand By Me was a great movie, and I really dug Robert Palmer's Addicted To Love.

If you want to talk about relevance, since that championship three decades ago, the Indians have made the playoffs twice as many times as the Mets have.

Then throw in the delta between the two teams' payrolls over those years, and it doesn't take a statistical wizard to figure out which one has the market cornered on ineptitude.
