Maybe.

He's got a 4.45 ERA vs BOS compared to his overall career mark of 3.23. That's a pretty big difference, but not quite as dramatic as Sale's career mark of 2.95 compared to 4.44 vs CLE.

Sale's innings sample size vs CLE is more than twice that of Kluber's vs BOS.

And then there's this:

Sale last three starts vs Indians:
5.1 IP/GS ~ 10.6 K/9 ~ 2.6 K/BB ~ 1.83 WHIP ~ 9.39 ERA

Kluber last three starts vs Red Sox:
7.2 IP/GS ~ 10.4 K/9 ~ 4.2 K/BB ~ 0.83 WHIP ~ 1.66 ERA

Word. I'd rather Kluber not have lost last night, but still, we're comparing two pitchers, not two teams.

Each pitcher has lost to their respective opponent this year. It's just that Kluber pitched great in his start vs the Sox (7.2 IP ~ 12 K ~ 2 ER) and the Indians kicked Sale square in the dick (5.0 IP ~ 5 K ~ 7 ER).

Seriously, though. A good start tonight could indicate that Sale has turned the corner vs the Tribe. On the other hand, one start might not be a bulletproof indicator against nearly 120 IP of history.

One thing is for sure, though, if he doesn't do well tonight, the collective angst in Boston over a potential postseason meeting of the teams would be palpable and I'll laugh my ass off.

It's not like he's never had a good game against the Indians. I'm really not worried about Sale in the playoffs.

head to head stats just aren't very reliable because they're coming from multiple seasons (which are small sample sizes).

Yeah. Sure. Indians are more or less a lock for the playoffs at this point and I'm more concerned about those games.

Yeah, I'm just busting your balls. I remember when the Angels were 8-1 against the Red Sox in 2008. I'm sure most Angels fans thought they'd easily take the ALDS.

Fuck the Angels. So glad they're mediocre.

Well the Red Sox offense came alive last night.

Negative X-rays for JBJ so that's good.

Solar Eclipse a few days ago and Fister actually was very good

Yankees crushed homers and won @bksballer89 your estatic!

Judge's K streak ends

Irving a Celtic... EH... Should have kept young talent and draft picks
Hey I was just telling the Mrs the other night we REALLY need a thread dedicated to a lot of shit no one really cares about. Thanks Cubby!:thumb:
