Individual stats aside, he has helped the team

He doesn't have to be Beltran but there will be games where they need his bat. Fortunately, Pagan, Arias, Scutaro and company have stepped up.

Yeah, I'm not being serious with cracking on him. Nevertheless, the guy has had only a few AB where he looked locked in on the pitch. Maybe that's his style.....we'll see, since I'm sure he'll put together a good stretch at some point before the end of the year. He has to, right?

I truly believe that Pence was just trying to do too much when he first arrived (expected), is already naturally risky in the field (take the good with the bad) and putting too much pressure on himself after the Melky news (acceptable). As far as yesterday's abysmal performance, late scratches can mess with a player's mind. I remember games where I was getting my mindset for the two-slot to be bumped into batting first or third, and it would completely throw me off. Obviously, Pence is a major leaguer, so that isn't exactly a valid excuse, but the approach for batting 5th to 4th is definitely different, especially against a lefty like Capuano that uses hitter anxiety very well to his advantage. Luckily, this time it was during a blow-out victory. Good things are coming.

Agreed. I think that just having his presence in the lineup and in the clubhouse is helping this team. The threat of his power helps the guys ahead of him get better pitches to hit. And how can you not like this guy's attitude and energy if you're one of his teammates. It seems like the Giants have a great work environment right now. I would like to think that their success has something to do with the positive environment.
