I'm thinking the reference is to the Marlins having called themselves the "Florida" Marlins
before Tampa-St Pete got a team. Could be wrong about that, I admit, but don't believe I am.

Giants cost 130, Fish getting 120. Giants may be a good buy here...

O/U is 6.5. I don't like that line.

Allow me to opine here that outside of Bum, we must have the sorriest hitting group of pitchers in the league.

How hard can it be when you have four days rest minimum between "work" days to take even 10 minutes of batting practice a day and learn at least how to bunt?!?

I don't know what you guys have been bitching about. Now that I'm back to paying attention again, the Giants' offense looks damn good!

I could be wrong.

Two hits.

Would be nice to see Blanco, Panda, and others at least finish the year strong. It would make it a lot easier on the FO to figure out what we really need going into next season.

Small strike zone, but Cain certainly isn't helping himself.

While it would be nice for Panda to finish well, IMHO it would be easier for the FO if Blanco finished poorly. I love what Blanco has given us, esp last year, and esp in the post-season, but he has been given every chance to prove himself with the bat, and he just has not delivered. A "strong" finish by Blanco might bring him to a .700 OPS for the year - well below average for what should be a power position. He is a late-inning defensive replacement at best.

IMHO, if we are to contend again, we have to find an acceptable-hitting LF. Blanco ain't it.

If there was ever a year for a guy from the minors to grab that job, this was it.

"All you have to do is perform better than Blanco/Torres kid."

And yet we couldn't find a guy who was able/ready to do it. :L

OTOH, a strong finish leaves the FO in a quandry.

Which is the "real" Panda? The one who went weeks at a time between RBI's and multi-hit games, or the one who finished the season hitting .420 in September?

Which is the "real" Blanco? The one who hit .121 in the leadoff position when the Giants were still effectively in the race for the division, or the .340 hitting once the pressure is off and the Giants are assured last place?

Which is the "real" Timmeh? The one who had a 5.00+ ERA for a season and a half, and who got lit up by good hitting teams like the Reds, or the one who pitched a no-hitter against the poor hitting Padres, and lowered his ERA against sub-par competition?

I guess I see your larger point, that I want the guys on this team to do well. But I'd hate for Sabes to think (like with Huffer) that past performance guarantees future returns.
