Astros the big Loser IMO

Hoping Keuchel stays healthy
McCullers hurt
Morton/Friers

That team was begging for a starter

so, a few years ago the sox signed 2 cuban "studs" to huge deals. rusney castillo and yoann moncada.
to date, and granted moncadas young, but it appears castillo was the better player (not in terms of upside tho):

castillo:
317 MLB AB's

.262 avg
.679 OPS
7 HR
35 RBI

moncada:
57 AB's (2 teams):

.140 avg
.521 OPS
1 HR
7 RBI

PS rusney is actually hitting in pawtucket:

.307 avg
.824 OPS
11 HR
32 RBI

the problem...42 K's and 9 walks

Welp, I thought for sure Doug Fister was going to get shelled last night and the Red Sox would lose.. Boy was I wrong

7 2/3 IP
5 Hits
2 Earned
2 BBs
5 Ks

Pretty impressive considering it's Fister

One pitch away from going 8 scoreless. Two run homer to Zimmer was his only mistake.

Sonny Gray. LOL. You Fraudkee fans are gonna find out real quick that Sonny pitching in Fraudkee Stadium is not the same thing as Sonny pitching in Oakland where there is an ocean of foul territory to get easy outs in.

Fister got a temporary reprieve, but don't kid yourself. He still sucks.

you know how anytime you read a mutual fund prospectus or other investment disclosures, you are probably going to come across the oft-repeated phrase, "Past performance is no guarantee of future results." ?

Yeah, that.

Gray has a career groundball rate of 54.4% (56.7% this year). He's moving from a pitcher friendly ballpark to a hitter friendly park, but I think he'll do just fine. I don't think he's the guy people thought he was in 2015, but 2014 Gray is still a damn good pitcher.

True. I would love to see the stats on Yankees stadium though. I feel like it was much more hitters friendly the first few years when it was open.

Dude just has not been the same since 2015. His stats appear to have improved over his last 6-7 starts, but a lot of those starts were at home. His home-road splits tell a different story. Yankees chased the wrong guy. Darvish has a proven track of success in a hitter-friendly environment. Gray needs a pitcher-friendly environment which Yankee Stadium is not.

Any way you spin it

They were in first place with Jordan Montgomery and Caleb Smith and Luis Cessa taking the ball 2 out of every 5

They are better with Garcia and Gray

We will find out how much better

Darvish would have been a rental for a high end prospect or 3

Yankees aren't in the business of handing out 200 million contracts anymore
