Yeah, Jaylin Davis really has started his time with Sacramento in a wildly hot streak. I think Rickard and Gerber are the two most likely candidates because of their experience in center field. Compare Davis' 2019 minor league numbers to the guys on the 40 man roster, though, and Davis comes out on top.Davis is hot and the flavor of the week. Why not? He's only played 25 games in CF in his minor league career.
Gerber has played about 1/3 of his minor league games in CF, so is a true CF.
But hey, we have Superman patrolling CF. We need an OF who can actually hit, and maybe, just maybe, hit for some power.
Both Davis and Gerber are hitting .359 in their last ten games.
Davis - .311/.404/.587
Gerber - .321/.382/.597
Rickard - .311/.384/.538
Chris Shaw - .297/.366/.553
Joe McCarthy - .189/.325/.366
Quite frankly, I don't really know why people are so excited about Joe McCarthy. He is 25 years old and has looked awful all year at AAA. As he has advanced through the minors, his numbers have gotten worse. He seems to have lost some of his patience at the plate and his power hasn't been all that impressive. He did have better numbers in AAA last year but I'm not too impressed with him yet. If he has a monster August (its been more of the same so far), then I may change my mind.
