It's funny. A year or 2 ago, we were saying how Scoots should play out his 3 year contract. Year one, ideally he starts most of the year (check). Year two, he splits time with Panik while handing over the ropes (kinda-check). Year three, Panik's backup/mentor (?).

It certainly didn't seem like it was going to play out that way by the end of last year (Scoots chronic back, Panik was struggling), but it's funny how things seem to work out. We're not always that off target here.

Seeing some chatter on twitter saying that Romo fared better because it was the A's and they are in the AL, so not as familiar with him. Fair point, especially with Romo's slider. BUT, he wasn't hanging them that inning, which he has been during this terrible streak. They were all nasty.

EDIT: Just looked it up. May 17th 2008. Gave up 5 runs in 5, took a loss. This will be the first time back in the Bay though (even if it's a "road" game for the A's)
