Roberto Luongo: I play for the Panthers.
Jeb Bush: Here in Sunrise? I didn't know they still had a team!
Roberto Luongo: Yup, we've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!

"How would you like a spot on the Oilers roster?"

"If you're going to pull that shit, the least you could've said was you were with the Bruins."

They have two home openers? Lucky bastards, they had one Saturday too!

These are segments of their 3-part Home Opener Classics series. You would think the fans would attend since these games are indoors - a real novelty in the NHL these days.

The really sad thing is that the Panthers are the one NHL team that you can guarantee has FAR more people watching in the arena than at home on TV. They average only about 4,000 viewers per game on local cable broadcasts.

In other words, there are high school football teams in Texas that probably have more people watch their game in a given week than the Florida Panthers... a team in a market of well over 6 million people.

For any given Panthers' game, there is a 0.18% chance that a Miami resident saw it (if it's at home). An away game drops to a 0.07% chance.

I went to the Florida Lottery's page and looked up scratch-off odds....
You have a better chance in Miami of winning a $100 scratch off ticket than you do of hearing a "yes" to the following question - "did you watch that Panthers' game last night?"

Think about that for a second.

I think game two is where they open some windows in the arena to get a cross breeze going. Yep, Home Opener Windows Open Night.

The devils had a game in which only 334 fans were there.
Of course they had an excuse. A little snow. Heck half the players were so late they had to delay the game start by two hours.

I remember that game as I believe the Flames were the Devils opponent on that snowy night.
