POTENTIALLY yes. But any of the last 3 guys could suck hard next year. Tim does suck, but if he's your fifth starter I guess it's not so bad. Vogelsong: we'll see how these last 2 months look. He's sucked in 2013. Gaudin: obviously a great lucky find so far, like Vogey before him. But there's nothing guaranteeing he's good enough to be a 3rd/4th starter.

That's the glass half empty take and it's plausible. But the glass half full take is also quite plausible, in which those 5 indeed are good enough for a playoff team.

4 QSs in the last five games, and some new blood that may spark the hitting. Even if we can't contend (still a shot), we may be able to pull a Joe Morgan out of the hat.

1. Anybody can suck at any time. Bum could have an ERA over 5.
2. Nobody is guaranteed anything at any time, but I think a rotation of those 5 has a good shot at being a real strength.
3. You're right that the last two months are going to be critical.
