Is he still the SS of the future? I haven't been watching close enough, but if the guy is hitting .230, he better be stellar in the field.

Is he still the SS of the future? I haven't been watching close enough, but if the guy is hitting .230, he better be stellar in the field.

Welcome back.

I've been thinking about this lately. His defense has to be spectacular if he's not going to improve his hitting. I can't watch them all the time, but it seems he's been more inconsistent this year, or at least lately. Still good overall.

As of now, there really isn't anyone to take over for him. So it's his job. I would like to see a little more damage with the bat though.

EDIT: Though after reading cal's post I forgot about Duffy. I love this kid, he could push Craw someday.

I am a fan of the kid, but he brain farts enough that his salary plays are just bringing him back to even. His bat has not developed the way I would ave hoped. He kills the ball for a week, then goes in the tank fir 3 weeks. At least he still tends to give decent ABs.

I am certainly open to the idea of opening the job to competition from EA and Duffy next spring.

Crawford has a chance still. Makes hard plays but botches easy ones. Hits okay needs to be at .250 but he has shown flashes. I'd consider someone else if no improvement next season.
