When Slater hit that ball, my first thought was "at least it was a productive out as the runners should easily advance." Then the camera pans to Dickerson standing on 2nd base. Doh!So how did Dick not tag up on that DEEP fly to RF? The RF was even running away from the infield when he caught it.
Dick should have taking a 1/3 lead (still can easily score if it falls, and should still be able to tag up if it is caught, given the fielders motion). The 90 ft didn’t end up making a difference since (Solano?) flew out next, but if Dick had advanced, it would have put the tying run at 3rd, and would have added momentum (as little as it would have been, granted) to the Giants. As it was, the DEEP fly was nothing more than an ineffective out.
this team has no idea what they are doing on the base paths this year. It has cost the team in the past. Not sure if that is Wotus’ responsibility or if one of the other coaches is responsible for base running, but that is establishing itself as a potential issue with this team.
