Yes they were, but the constant drain of 4-5-6 inning apps was unsustainable, hence my hope for a steady stream of 8-9 plus some STOPS mixed in. If that had happened the hitting would have sufficed. I think.But the kids were doing admirably in their stead. We needed offense, not pitching.
We need Mac to snap out of his spiral. That concussion was devastating.

You can't help but wonder how many HRs he would have had he played in virtually any other ballpark than The StickI'm reading a wonderful bio of Willie Mays. Lots of interesting tidbits about things like Candlestick Park. One of the tidbits about Mays is that he is the only major leaguer (at the time of the book's publishing) that had at least one home run in each of the innings 1-16. Incredible.
