Yeah....at some point we have to recognize that Belt...just...I don't know. You need a guy who can really truly hit at first. He's heading to James Loney-ville it seems like. And think of what you could get for him in a trade....plus Panda or Posey might need to be there.

Seriously, why is winning the opening game of a series so freaking hard, especially at home?

Every team has injuries. Every team has some players under-performing.

Actually, Loney had a few years where he didn't hit many homers, but he hit for average and drive in runs. 08-10 he drive in 90 runs each year, IIRC.

I'd take that. Rather have a young Stretch back, though.

I know we are frustrated with Belt but he is turning it around, hit .235 in April, .266 in May and .300 in June.

Hitting .283 with runners on, .288 with RISP but .250 with bases empty

Nor am I, but we do need starting pitching, and we have guys who can easily play 1B.

Belt is still young (25), and he has driven in some clutch runs for us this year, and he is hitting above .270.

Tonight's game was one of those that every team has, but we seem to be having more than our share lately.

Are we spoiled, or what?

Still not much power...
I know, he's still got a chance, but it's not at all out of the question that he never really turns into a GOOD hitter (for that position). And as I said, we need a spot for Fatso and/or MVP.

Probably not making any moves this year, but next year? 2015? If this is all he is you gotta consider it.
